# How to create a Segment using Tags

Segments are dynamic. They can change over time and can provide more visibility to your subscribers. To manage segments well, you need tags to know which type of audience the segment includes and what kind of content you should provide to them.

Here is how to create a segment using tags in **AVADA Marketing Automation**.

# Step 1. Create segment

Head to the **Audiences** tab and click on the **Create Segment** button inside the **Segments** page.

# Step 2. Select filter

As you can see, the page immediately focuses on adding filters to create your segment. Scroll down and you should see _Tag_, click on to select it as a rule for your segment.

# Step 3. Select tag

After that, you will see all the created tags among your campaigns. As an example, I will select the _"newsletter"_ tag, but keep in mind that you can select multiple tags. You can also add another filter, but we will focus on tags in this article.

If you don't find the tag you want, you can click on the **Manage tags** button at the top right and hit **Create tag** to make a new tag of your own.

Give your tag a name, and you can start selecting it as a tag for your email list subscribers.

# Step 4. Complete

After selecting, you should see a list of contacts that match your filter. Then, insert a name for your segment and click on the Update button.

You should be able to see your new segment from a tag inside the **Segment** page now. Simple, isn't it?

There are multiple ways that you can add a tag to the user's profile. Including:

* adding tags one by one;
* bulk tagging on Import;
* bulk tagging for the contacts Segment;
* automatic tagging with Automations and Forms.

What matters is that as long as a contact has a tag, it will be added to the Segment. The contact is deleted from the Segment when you opt to remove the tag.
