If you found your contact has been tagged with one of the following status: Bounces, Complaints, Unsubscribers, Invalid – you may wonder what does it mean?
How does it is marked with specific status and do you need to pay for those contacts?

What is suppression list?
Suppression list contains contacts that you cannot send emails to them after they are added in this list. What are those contacts?
A bounced email is an email message that gets rejected by a mail server. When an email bounces, it has for some reason not reached the intended destination.
There are a variety of reasons that an email message can bounce: the email address doesn’t exist, the inbox is full, server outages, poor sender reputation due to spam complains, flagged content in the message content, or a restrictive DMARC record for your sending domain.
Email complaints (or spam marked emails) are a direct signal recipients give to mailbox providers (ex. Gmail, Yahoo!, Outlook, Hotmail, etc.) that the email they’ve received is unwanted (spam).
AVADA will not let you to send emails to them anymore to protect your sending reputation. It is obvious that complainters are not your target/potential audiences as well.
Unsubscribe is the action a user takes to opt-out of getting any more emails from you. It is law compliant to provide your audiences an option to unsubscribe your email/sms channel.
You can see those options in every AVADA email/SMS template. So when your audiences click to unsubscribe, they will jump to Suppression list. And AVADA will not allow you to send them any more messages in the future.
Invalid contacts are emails address that doesn’t have the correct format to be an email address, one that doesn’t exist or doesn’t anymore.
AVADA has a validation tool that run automatically when you send a campaign. Similarly, when emails are detected as invalid, you cannot send them any more emails in the future.
If you found an email is a valid contact (real customers that you know), you can change the status of this contact by open contact detail, and Mark as Valid
Do you need to pay for contacts in Suppression?
The simple answer is NO. We will charge you base on total sendable contacts (which exclude Suppression list). That’s why you do not need to delete those contacts. We recommend to keep them in AVADA to manage and monitor when necessary.
